Time to do laundry. Some things you cannot take a vacation from.

Spent the better part of the day visiting our great-nephew at his lovely 100 year old home out in the peaceful countryside.

Apron Curtains

I thought the apron curtains were quite interesting. Several different aprons were sewn together to create some lively curtains for the kitchen.
An apron is also worn by a little helper who also sports a swimsuit.

RC showed us the many plants that flourish in his very fertile soil.

I thought this was quite unique.

Ohio Buckeye

Mulberries

More Mulberries
Don’t be surprised if you see some of these beautiful plants on “teacup” note cards, greeting cards or the postcards I will create this year, along with some of the other beautiful plants I took photos of.

View from their backyard

We also saw his “chicken train”. This is a most interesting contraption that he created so he could move the chicken/duck pen along the pathway in the garden. The point of doing this is to utilize their help in cleaning up the grass and fertilizing what will become the next plot to plant in. He is just beginning to plant as this is his first year living here. As the years go by they will have a wonderful , large garden. Already they have a garden that helps supply them with healthy food and soon the chickens will be old enough to provide fresh eggs.

For this couple, living in the country is the best way to live and raise their two daughters.

Stream near their home

We took a little side trip on the way back so we could photograph the Mad River. The current was quite fast and we even saw a couple go by in a canoe.

Dragonflies

These photos do not do justice to what we saw.
Next we did a little shopping before returning “home” . This evening we went to visit another niece after supper and followed that by a relaxing evening visiting at “home”.

David is still suffering from his earaches. The medicine may be working, but I wish the pain would leave so he can better enjoy his vacation.
Today started out sunny and ended up with threatening rain clouds and a breeze that could fly a kite. However, it did not rain today…wow the first day without rain since we left Indiana.
